UA’s new scholarship system AWARDED goes live October 1
August 22, 2025
Thanks to generous donors, the University of ÌÒ»¨Ö±²¥ Foundation awards more than $6.1 million in scholarships annually, supporting students at every campus.
The University of ÌÒ»¨Ö±²¥ is improving student access to UA Foundation scholarships with the launch of a new scholarship management system, AWARDED, which will go live on Oct. 1. The systemwide upgrade reflects UA’s commitment to reducing financial stress and enhancing the academic experience for all students.
AWARDED replaces Kaleidoscope and introduces a more flexible, student-centered approach to scholarship management. Instead of a traditional application, students will submit an optional profile that will connect them to relevant opportunities based on merit, financial need, field of study, life circumstances and achievements. The new system streamlines the process, allowing students to track progress and receive timely updates.
Timeline considerations:
- A town hall is scheduled for Sept. 23 for any faculty or staff who would like to attend to learn more or ask questions. Additional details about the session will be shared via each university’s newsletter and communications within the next few weeks.
- Once it goes live on Oct. 1, students will need to check their AWARDED dashboard for scholarship updates and requests.
In tandem with the software rollout, UA is implementing a new scholarship ÌÒ»¨Ö±²¥ designed to increase transparency, fairness and compliance. A major feature of the ÌÒ»¨Ö±²¥ is the upcoming shift from a single annual deadline (historically Feb. 15) to rolling deadlines, allowing students to receive scholarships throughout the year. This change supports better academic planning and ensures more timely scholarship decisions.
This initiative is a collaborative effort between the UA Foundation, UA system, University of ÌÒ»¨Ö±²¥ Anchorage, University of ÌÒ»¨Ö±²¥ Fairbanks and University of ÌÒ»¨Ö±²¥ Southeast, all working together to make scholarships more accessible, timely and effective. With AWARDED, UA is redefining how scholarships can be used to empower student success, making the process more flexible and impactful.
Scholarship Process Improvement (SPI) Coordinators at each university are available to serve as guides to students and staff through the new system and ÌÒ»¨Ö±²¥ transition. The coordinators are key to ensuring a smooth rollout and a student-first experience. If you have questions or need more information, please contact your SPI Coordinator:
